In Game Custom Music on the PS3

Question

I used to own a 360 until the red ringed grim reaper killed it (not literally) I'm gonna get the 80GB Core Pack PS3 soon by late August

(17 days after my birthday arrrgghhh!) can't wait... lol

Anyways what I wanna know is that will Sony make a firmware giving the PS3 the capability of playing yer own music whilst playing a game cuz that was a real bonus for me when I was playing my 360....

(Don't tell me to get a 360 cuz I'm not wasting my money again!)

I heard Microsoft was being really strict about in-game custom music and patent it or something (thats what I called being paranoid)

Anyone knows if Sony will ever be able to replicate Microsofts idea without too much trouble?...

It's actually already a feature. It was implemented in one of the latest firmware updates.

However, game developers have to implement it, so not all games support it. In fact, only a few support it right now. The PS3 won't just play over the games soundrack, so it actually has to be programmed in.

Personally I wouldn't use this feature much anyway except for certain genre games. I would expect to see it in most racing games from now on, and probably a lot of PSN titles. Most games use music to set a mood which is important in immersive gameplay. Developers also spend a lot of money on making the music, so they probably want you to listen to it. A horror game wouldn't be quite as frightening with "Don't Worry Be Happy" playing in the background, for example.

Warhawk is getting in game music in its next update.

the ps3 has in game music but they have only made patches for some games but soon enough cod4 and loads of other great online games will get the patch.
