  2. Okay, just a quick note here -- all of you/us who actually *speak* German know that anyone who does *not* speak it is just going to look at these lovely German words you have so thoughtfully posted and totally massacre the pronunciation (even with those helpful hints about umlauts and rolling r's)!! All those poor Germans are going to fall over laughing at the lame tourist through no fault of your hard efforts. German must be heard to be pronounced -- and even then it is the devil to recreate. Garble, gargle. Good luck anyway.

  3. Get a dictionary. They aren't expensive.

  4. bookshelf - das Bucherregal (with umlat on the 'u')

was one of my favorite words to pronounce:

    boo-ker-ray-gull :) (Don't forget to roll that 'r')

    Edit: Translator link below

  5. the window - das Fenster

    The wall - Die Wand

    the TV - Das Fernseher

    the bed = Das Bett

    alternatively, i always use http://dict.leo.org/

  6. die Kleider =clothes

    der Lichtschalter=light switch

I will pass on the others because you have already been told about them.
