  1. It really depends on where she'll be and what her interests are. If she's somewhere around Frankfurt or Cologna, a Rhine River cruise is pretty good. The crusie from Mainz to Koblenz goes by a lot of castles and both Mainz and Koblenz are interesting cities. Munich has a lot of interesting things to see and do.

Nurnberg is really good. There are a lot of medieval buildings, the castle is very good, and there is a lot of interesting public art.

Rothenberg ob der Tauber is a good place for a day trip. The old town is very large and well preserved. There are many other interesting stops along the Romantic Road.

Munich has tons of things to see and do. Nymphenburg Palace is worth a visit and there are three palaces at Schleissheim. There are several good museums in the Residenz. Good day trips from Munich include:

Fussen - go see Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles. The view from the Marian Bridge above Neuschwanstein castle is spectacular.

Linderhof Castle - King Ludwig actually lived in this one. Neuschwanstein was never actually completed or lived in.

    Salzburg

    Berchtesgaden

Dresden, Berlin, Hamburg, Leipzig ... there are too many possibilities to list here.
