In India, what should I expect riding a motorcycle cross country

In America, it's open road. Just get out and drive. If I bring a Harley-Davidson to India, are there police check points or anything like that? Are there any problems with licenses, etc? If I have a wad of cash, are the cops gonna shake me down!? Ha ha; gotta ask. The weather would be perfect most months. It's a deathwish I can handle; it's not fair. Understand?

  1. I think you can bring. But I have never seen any american driving motorbike in India. It is a good idea. But for travelling from one place to another place in India, there are various options like train service (which may not be good compared to european countries, but all the places are well connected by train), bus service and to travel inside the town or city, good bus, taxi or auto service is there. And it is cheaper also. So, no need to bring the motorcycle. About license, once you land in India, you have to deal with Road transport authority available in all towns and cities. They will give you easily if you know to drive well.

  2. Highways are normally good but expect bumpy ride in some places. Traffic jams at places and keep all your documents  handy and Never show your wad of cash to anyone. Its not safe for a lone traveler.

Be prepared to eat spicy food at road side"Daabas" (small hotels)

Take care of fuel, air mechanic Etc.

Well  these are just normal precautions. People are normally helpful. yet be careful.

I am sure you'd enjoy your experience.

    cheers!!
