In India 34.7% of the people are using cycles?

its a wonder that this much of people use cycles

india has a great population

if all use petrol and diesel engines then the country could not find its way

yeah ! it helps to keep us in balance the fossil fuels

though india's forest are cutted up

cities grow more and more trees but the balance hasnt correct and india is not a rich country that has rich people so , bi-cycles came into play a major role

You better define cycles.  Do you mean bicycles or motorcycles?  If you mean motorcycles, they have two-stroke engines and cause significant pollution.

Most of the Indians that use bicycles or motorcycles do so for economic, not altruistic, reasons.  Most Indians just cannot afford to buy and maintain their own car.  If they had the means they would prefer to buy cars.

Although it is a good idea to use a cycle yet not practical at this time. Although if Manmohan Singh and party (or Such) keep ruling this country, every body shall be forced to drive a cycle in India (Unity in Diversity). Just think and imagine Manmohan Singh or such a big person driving a bicycle. Believe me everybody shall copy and India shall no more worry about the oil prices..
