  1. No real need for them outside Dublin. Housing estates in towns are pretty self-explanatory, and in other areas, the postman knows the locals. At least that's what it's like where I'm originally from. An example of an address could be:

    Mr and Mrs John Byrne

    Newtown

    Co. Wexford

And they would get their post, no problems. Of course, houses with names make it that bit easier, but not all houses have them.

  2. The postman knows everyone personally outside Dublin....no need for codes!!

  3. Well, I'm afraid I can't help you too much.

I am an Irish person living outside Dublin, so I don't really understand postcodes! we just use the street name, town name and county. Here is an example address:

    2437 Saint Cappucino Avenue

    Anytown,

    County Mayo

  4. The postmen personally know each address and each person.   However the problem happen if there are 2 people with the same name in 2 or more towns.   i.e. Joe Murphy in Newcastle, the mail just keeps going around and around the system, thus resulting in the increase mail being processed by the state post office.
