  1. The Japanese girl will only be able to register her baby as an illegitimate child who automatically has Japanese nationality.

You can recognize the illegitimate child at your embassy in Japan later then officially if you want and have no problem with your real wife.

  2. Japan is about 200 years out of date when it comes to parental rights.

Only the biological mother or the husband of the biological mother can register a childbirth in Japan.  Even if you can prove that you are the biological father, you have zero legal rights over the child.

If the mother chooses to register your name as the father, the child still does not receive your citizenship unless you marry the mother.  Also, the father does not receive any visitation rights unless the mother chooses to allow it.  However, you are still responsible for paying child support, even if you aren't allowed visitation.

If the mother is already married to another man (and did not file for divorce at least 200 days before the birth of the child), or chooses to register a different man as the father, then that man is legally the father and supporter of the child, even if a paternity test says otherwise.

  3. are you Japanese as well? If not, the child will be considered countryless and it won't matter.
