  1. It's not impossible, but surely an unusual & difficult option.

    First of all, getting into Uni is extremely hard in Japan (instead, getting credits and graduating is said to be very easy).  So, if you are going to take an year off after graduating high school, all you would be doing is studying and getting ready for the entry exam.

    Hence, most of the first year Uni students are straight high school graduates.  You would look little weird if you are not.

    I would rather work my *** off during the last year of high school, then party around for next few years in Uni.
