  1. worked to death

  2. Yes.

    It is profitable too.

Ask anyone who recieved official notice of having been recorded by

automatic year-around video systems employed by officialdom to

penalty public for misdeeds.  It never stops for those who fail to

appreciate self-education.  This is the Karoshi redemption.

  3. too overworked to even think about it!

  4. I don't know about a British equivalent to the Japanese word "Karoshi" because we use phrases to describe what some languages can pull off with a single word.

However, we Yanks tend to say "He/she worked him/herself into an early grave" although its been years since USA Americans had such a work ethic.  They've usually been devoured by the other dogs long before they even have a chance to die from overwork.

"Self-destructed" is another possibility, as in "He 'self-destructed' because of the demands of his job."

  5. yes, there is stellabenefitoti.......  drinking yourself to death with stella artois payed for by illegally claimed benefits.

  6. Yes, my uncle died three months after he retired from a heart attack caused by over work.  He was a professor for the Open University and regularly pulled 80-hour weeks.  He was British.

My partner is British and currently works 60+ hours a week at two jobs to keep us afloat.  He is making himself very ill but refuses to give up as he has too much pride to claim benefits.

Oh sorry, did I just burst your "All UK people are lazy and on benefits" bubble.  How rude of me.

  7. Yeah. It's called "Death from Overwork".
