In Javelin/long jump/shot put, does it matter if the wind pushes it further?

isnt it unfair. if it was recorded with extremely strong winds?

  1. No, it is just luck.  


  2. Shot is unlikely to have any benefit from wind (it's hardly aerodynamic).

    Javelin will have some effect, but it's more likely to be a crosswind that affects it's trajectory.

    Long jump will gain some benefit (just like the 100m sprinters) from a tail wind.

    The Bird's Nest stadium seems to have been designed to reduce the effects of wind. With open stadia they compensate for wind when reporting the sprint race times.
