I will have to go home and watch the first part of the 100 years of AFL/VFL footy tape from 1996. Alan Dale (Coleman teammate) and Tony Charlton (Channel 7 caller) describe how Coleman got hurt. Seems to my memory that Essendon was playing Hawthorn at Glenferrie. After I watch that, I will give you the definite answer.

I just got to watch the Coleman profile on the video, and he got hurt in round 8, June 5. Nothing more on the video. In the 100 years of footy book, Essendon was playing North at Windy Hill. No mention who played fullback against Coleman. I tried.
