In Lingerie retired, and to be bred to Frankel
Raced as a three-year-old and now retired as a three-year-old, Gary Barber, R. Warren Lyster, Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners owned filly, In Lingerie, has been retired from racing, and the Grade 1 Juddmonte Spinster winning filly out of Grade 2-winning Storm
Cat mare Cat Chat, will be bred to two-time Cartier Horse of the Year, Frankel.
Trained by the veteran horseman, Todd Pletcher for the owners, In Lingerie took its connections to new heights last season from coast to coast, and provided thrills wherever she raced under their banner.
The 3-year-old Empire Maker filly didn’t dwell much in maiden special weights, as she defeated maidens in first attempt at Turfway Park at about six furlongs over Polytrack on 14 January, 2012. Next up was a mile long Allowance Optional Claimer over a mile
at Gulfstream Park, where she finished second to, Zo Impressive.
Into graded stakes company, In Lingerie’s debut at the level was an impressive one as she went on to land the Grade 3 Bourbonette Oaks at Turfway Park, and was even better at Pimlico, where she won the Grade 2 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes over 1 1/8 miles on
dirt on 18 May.
Third in the Grade 1 Coaching Club American Oaks at Saratoga, and then at the longest she has gone at 1 ¼ miles in the Grade 1 Alabama Stakes, In Lingerie, finished a strong second to winner, Questing.
President of Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners Aron Wellman and Barber said in a joint statement. "It was a true privilege to be able to campaign In Lingerie this past season." "She is a magnificent filly and took us to the top of the mountain from coast to
coast, providing many glorious thrills along the way.
"Being in this game for the sport of it, it is difficult to let go of such a phenomenal racehorse capable of headlining major races in coming seasons, but when the opportunity to breed In Lingerie to Frankel became a reality, the decision was a no-brainer,"
Wellman and Barber continued.
In Lingerie, bred in Kentucky by Colts Neck Stables LLC last raced in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint, and finished off the board for the first time in her career in ninth. She retired with a record of 4 wins, 2 second place finished and
a lone third, with career earnings of $712,265.
