  1. Buy a car with 9 or more seats.  Or travel after 6:00pm

  2. walk

  3. scooter, take the tube or walk

  4. I thought it was based on how much carbon dioxide (in grammes) was produced per km.

Im not entirely sure, but reading other answers I would suggest travelling after 6pm if possible.

    Good luck.

  5. walk?

  6. Yeah seriously take a tube or walk if you don't want to pay it.

It keeps cars off the streets, and the proceeds go to improving public transport, if you won't pay that what else will you steal while you're here?

  7. Bernie is talking c**p.

You cannot register as a Taxi, but as a minicab only.

Only one type of vehicle in London is allowed to call itself a Taxi, at that one needs no explanation.

And to answer your question: Legally in your own vehicle, unless exempt, no you can't, they have covered every angle, if there was a street, road, lane or avenue that you could go down in London to avoid it, then i would know it.

  8. dont use a car? try using a bike, walking or using public transport - i dont live in London but ive heard from people who do, that since the congestion charge a lot of money has been injected into public transport so it is generally better than it used to be. then again, you could travel after 6pm

  9. yeah use public transport!

as soon as a road vehicle passes through the zone censors beneath the tarmac clock your car

and all its information including its number plate and this all get sent to the underground office in east london and your vehicle will be monitored and if you haven't payed by 10pm that same night an £80 fine will be on its way to you.

the censors are spaced out every 2 metres so threes no escaping it and with london being the most watched city on the planet your and your car are all ways being watched.

  10. Motorized scooters have no congestion charges but with petrol prices for them it's probably much easier and cheaper to take the tube. Get an oyster card, it's cheap.

  11. travel after 6pm

  12. As well as the previous there is no charge for the greenest cars.  Or duel fuel/hybrid engined cars.

  13. Register your car as a taxi / minicab with your borough council, it initially costs about £30.00 I think, then about a tenner a year to keep it running.. You don't have to trade as a taxi to qualify.
