In MS Excel, how can I copy/drag a formula down to the bottom of a column? ?

For example, I'm working with large spreadsheet, tens of thousands of rows long. I created a vlookup in the second row of a column. Instead of clicking on that cell, moving the cursor to the bottom right of the cell, single left clicking the mouse on the cross hairs and dragging the mouse down to the bottom, to automatically copy the formula down to each row in the column I am looking for a quicker way. Is there a command to accomplish the same result?

  1. If the column immediately to the left is 100% complete (no gaps in any rows), just double click on the little black square on the bottom right corner of your formula's cell.

If you have gaps in that column move your cell cursor to a column that is complete, Press [End] then press your down arrow.  Now move your cell cursor to the bottom of your formula column.  Press [Ctrl]+[Shift]+ the up arrow to highlight the entire column.  Now press [Ctrl]+[D] to copy the formula down.

  2. there are a few ways - I'll give you two easy ones

You can copy the cell with the formula, highlight all the cells you want it in, then paste it,

or you can do a quick double click on that little tiny square that appears at the bottom corner of the cell that you have selected.  Be careful when you do this - sometimes it adds numbers (like if you have cell b1 plus 1, it may make it plus 2, plus 3...)
