In MTG, if a creature recieves -x/-x which causes its defense to drop to zero, is the creature destroyed?

I have this question because of the plansewalkers scorn card in the planeshift set.

    Yes, the creature will be destroyed.  When a creatures's defense is brought to 0, it will be destroyed as a state-based effect.

  2. Yes, lowering a creatures toughness to zero will cause it to go to the graveyard.

    tuff ness is after the slash

    its goes strength/tuffness.
