for instance: if a player has weathered bodyguards in play and gives it protection from creatures, will the damage from an unblocked 6/6 destroy it because it is being 'redirected' from the player to the creature, OR will the damage be prevented because it is still being done by a creature?

  1. Redirecting the damage does not change its source. So if your bodyguards have protection from creatures and you redirect the damage, the damage will be prevented.

  2. Yes it will be prevented. Just remember that a creature from protection from something can't be blocked, dealt damage, enchanted, destroyed, targeted by anything it has protection from.

  3. protection does a lot of things, but in this case, any damage dealt to it by creatures would be prevented. The damage is still coming from a creature, so after being redirected, it's prevented.
