In Madrid, what are the open hours for stores (food, shopping)? Are they open on Sunday? Any recommendations?

Do you know what there is to do near the Parque De Las Avenidas where I'm staying for a couple of nights?

What are some good shops for clothes, food, luggage?

  1. Sunday trading is not the norm in Spain, but you may find as December gets here, some places will be open, but just don;t bank on it

  2. Ok, Try this whole section dedicated to shopping:

    Particularly the section;

    "Do as the Spanish do!" It will help you with some of the different shop types and opening hours.

    Best buys in Spain are: Tobacco (if of course you smoke..), Wine, Shoes and *Some* clothing. Take the Metro to Goya and wander around the area if you want street shopping with various stores. If you prefer everything in one place try the numerous commercial centers.

  3. In Madrid, shops close on Sundays. Big department stores open from 10 am to 10 pm from Monday to Saturday. The rest of the shops open from 10 am to 1.30 pm and from 5 pm to 8 pm. Souvenir shops open every day of the week.

    I have checked where exactly is the hotel and it´s quite far away from the centre, but there´s an underground station very near. The name of the street it´s in is Calle Biarritz. Check this google site and look for Paseo de la Castellana to the left of the place marked as the hotel. Then use the arrows going up along Paseo de la Castellana to Plaza de España, which would be more centrical.
