Question:

In Microsoft Word, is there a way that I can remove all paragraph marks?

I'm converting a document from my instructor. He has inserted a paragraph (pressed enter) behind each line of text. I prefer to allow Microsoft Word to wrap each line and I prefer to have all my lines fully justified. In order to do this I need to remove all of the instructor's paragraph marks. (They must be removed, not merely hidden). Does anybody know how to do this, barring going down line by line and doing a delete/space at the end of each line? Thanks in advance!

  1. If you're using Office 2007 this will work. I would assume the procedure would be the same for older versions as well. There is no need for other software.

1**When in word, press CTRL + F (this is the shortcut to bring up the "Find" dialog)

    2**Click the "Replace" tab

    3**Click the button "More>>"

4**At the bottom of the window there should be the button "Special", click that and choose "paragraph mark"

5**In the "replace" field, press the space bar.

    6**Click Replace All.

**Note if you're using an older version that doesn't have the 'special' button, you could try putting "^p" (without the quotes) into the find field, and skipping steps 3/4. Haven't tried this though.
