In NASCAR, if the COT drives like the Craftsman series Trucks why don’t more drivers race in Truck?

I am a fan of racing period.

However, I noticed in some interviews with drivers they say that the COT drives like a truck. I see Kyl. Busch racing in truck and I think one of the reasons why he is such a good driver is he gets a lot of practice, especially in Truck. I was just wondering why more drivers do not; it seems like it might be a good idea.

The earnings for the truck races are very minimal. Also if a cup owner runs a truck they usually would want to run a development driver to get him some track time.

Money is one factor, time is another but one of the biggest may actually be sponsors obligations and contracts. Every cup car sponsor has a huge monetery stake in their particular driver and they may not want to take the risk that their driver could get hurt in another series.

Money. The winner in a truck race will make less than the #43 driver in a Cup race.

because they're usually at different tracks

plus with everyone bitching about how many run in nationwide they would really get bent if the trucks were full of sprint drivers

also thats kinda the last resort for the ones that cant drive cup or nationwide

The drivers are not referring to the NASCAR truck series, they are referring to ungainly dump trucks.

The COT has more of the tendencies and characteristics of the truck than it does the Nationwide cars but that still doesn't mean it drives like it.  They are similar in that they both punch a bigger hole in the air and are more sensitive to the different drafts.  The trucks seem to get loose easier than the COT and are much more likely to go airborne.  For the younger drivers, any seat time is valuable and you can learn things about racing that can be applied to any vehicle you end up driving.

You bring up a valid point but it won't matter because the Nationwide Series will be implementing the COT next year.

Because no one else has as much desire to race as Kyle Busch. He does not do it all for the money, matter of fact he races the trucks for free. He likes to race and not many others have that type of ethic in Nascar to work hard doing what they love and not just for the money

Just a guess would be that trucks tend to sway more than cars do. Have you ever driven a 1960's model truck and noticed how they lean in a turn. A car tends to stay more level and hug the road (sports car).

When someone says a car drives like a truck I would assume they mean how it sways or leans when going through a curve. I have heard a term used that may refer to that when they say a car "rolls over" in a curve. Rolls over sounds like it (COT) seems to sway or lean a little more as compared to the older style race cars.

My answer is just a guess though. I have no experience  actually driving a COT but plenty of experience with old trucks and sports cars.
