In NHL 08, what are some good players to acquire for dynasty mode?

Question

I'm looking for some more players to add to my dynasty squad.. namely, players that have a good balance of skill, age (potential), and cost (length and amount of contract).

I started as the Penguins and dealt a bunch of people.. my current roster goes something like this:

Alfredsson - Crosby - Iginla

D. Sedin - Kesler - Semin

Malone - J. Staal - Hall

Ruutu - Beech - Talbot

Phaneuf - Gonchar

Regehr - Seabrook

J. Johnson - Letang

Fleury, Sabourin

I'm pretty happy with how it's going so far, especially since my entire defense and my top 6 forwards are already locked up for the next season.

The AI doesn't seem to have a good handle on how age / contract terms should affect a trade, so I've tried to take advantage of that. (i.e. you could be able to trade an old player like Gary Roberts who is about to retire for a slightly lower rated young player who is locked up for a few more years at a good price)

Any suggestions out there?

First, I always go after Phaneuf because he is on something like a 7 year deal at less then a million in the game LOL. You have him though. I like going after the young players though that also have their names and photos in the games database.  Next year it will be all about acquiring Johnathan Toews for me though.

Gilbert Brule from Columbus. (now Edmonton if you do manual roster updates)

Enver Lisin should be easy to trade for and comes cheap. He develops really fast and is a great goal scorer whom defies his overall rating.

And Rachel, those losers owned the c**p out of you in the SCF, not to mention two shutouts on your "world class offense"

Don't let Penguin-mania overtake you like it has 75% of all hockey fans. Just because Crosby and Malkin are young and good at the same time doesn't mean their team is unbeatable.

The players don't really matter. For me, anyway. I played as Rangers and Red Wings. On the Wings, Lilja was top guy... yeah. On the Rangers (I always trade to acquire Brad Isbister, long story.) Isbister was my top guy.

Speed kills in this game....Jiri Hudler is a great acquisition....as is Brian Gionta, Trevor Daley, Andy McDonald, and Patrik Elias is great too...

You definitely have to get Ovechkin.  Plus, you could probably get a new skate sharpener for Staal and Malone and a set of new shoelaces for Beech!
