when Dan Boyle was traded to the Sharks on 07/04/2008 he had to waive his no-trade clause. Can San Jose Sharks trade him if they want to or do they need Boyle to waive the NTC again?

  1. Unless they gave him a different contract, he'd probably have to waive it again if the Sharks wanted to trade him.

  2. San Jose assumed his contract in the trade. The contract would likely still contain some form of restricted trade clause still.

  3. The player is only waiving the clause for that particular trade.

He is not giving up the clause in the contract.

The new team has to live up to the terms of the contract, which includes the no-trade clause.

  4. My guess would be that it is still in effect.  He only waived it for Tampa.  He would have to waive it again for San Jose to trade him.
