  1. you dont know what a hit up is??? oh really..

as another answers person said it is generally refereing to when a forward takes the ball up to the defensive line, however it is counted if he offloads after hitting the line as well...

good to see leauge fans young and old boys and girls... enjoy another of australias great sports legacies....

  2. a hit up is when a player (most likely a forward) runs the ball 1 or 2 passes out from a play the ball scenario at the opponents defensive line.

If he breaks the defensive line thats a linebreak

4 or 5 plays from most sets of 6 tackles are hit ups

  3. Counting hit ups is a pointless statistic, after all that is the game, to take the ball forward and for the opposition to tackle you. I don't know why they count hit ups as all it means is that you got the ball and you took it forward (like you are supposed to ) and you got tackled or you bounced into the defensive line, big deal

  4. A hitup is when a player takes the ball into the defensive line and doesn't offload, or pass the ball beforehand. Martin Lang was a good example of this.

  5. When Someone passes a ball to a forward and they just run at the defence to break it or wear down opponents and gain meters... easiest way to explain it!

  6. When a player (usually a forward) takes the ball forward and is then tackled by the opposition.
