In Nascar, what happens when there is a caution flag?

I see that there is a caution flag in the race and that a lot of cars pit but not all. So if a car is in 10th place and they pit,do they come out and get back in 10th position? Also are the laps still counting down while the caution is out?

so all the people on the lead get to pit the first lap pit road opens... everyone who is a lap down gets to come in on the second lap... the position you come out in is the position you are in, if you went in 8th and came out 1st then that person is first...  and the laps do continue to count down the only time it doesn't is when it is red flagged which stops the race

Pitting depends on where they are at in the race if there are a lot of lapped cars then they have to wait for the lead lap cars to pit and then they can pit.  They come off the pit lane in the order they get out in the field on the track is frozen though.  And yes the caution laps do count against the total laps of the race.

everybody gets in line the pace car comes out and leads the pack slowly around the track until the danger has passed and if pitted at a yellow flag you go to the back of the longest line. The longest line are the cars that were lapped when the flag came out so that means they lose position!  so no they are not in 10th position !

well if the 10th place car pitted and everyone else stayed out, and they wee the only one who pitted,they would start at the back of the fieldyou dont hold your position when you pit. laps do count

when you go donw pit road you lose your place so to speak but if the whole field pits and your in 10th and pit,assuming you r pit guys are good you can gain or lose spots on pit road or just stay the same. keep watching its really pretty cool
