  1. No it has never hapened .

  2. Terry Labonte also won a championship with only one win.

  3. Matt Kenseth did it...

  4. Every driver who won in their rookie season.

  5. Nope. But the 2 closest that come to mind are the late Benny Parsons (RIP) in 1975 & Matt Kenseth in 2003* each by winning only one race in their Championship seasons.

*most believe it was because of this season that NASCAR & new series sponsor NEXTEL (now Sprint NEXTEL) announced the Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship in 2004 and onward.

  6. No, but 4 drivers have won the championship with only 1 win: Bill Rexford in 1950, Ned Jarrett in 1961, Benny Parsons in 1973, and Matt Kenseth in 2003.

The other side of the coin: Richard Petty won the championship in 1967 with 27 wins in 48 races.

  7. Matt Kenseth DIDNT do it. He won the championship in 2003 with one win. I think thats the closest you're gonna get.
