Question:

In Need of Eye Makeup Help: Fair skin, blond hair, light eyelashes & brows?

I've always struggled with finding the best makeup to suit my face, especially when it comes to my eyes. With blond eyelashes and eyebrows on fair skin, it is especially challenging to find a natural look.

I've tried a variety of eyeliners (black, browns, even colors) and they all look dirty and unnatural, the same goes for mascara. It just does not work on my eyes! I usually end up leaving the house with only foundation and lip gloss. I want to keep my look natural (no crazy colors), young and fresh without using a lot of makeup- but at the same time add a little 'oomph' to my eyes.

Anyone with experience who can offer tips and suggestions on any alternatives, makeup brands, colors, and application methods are appreciated! : )

  1. It would have helped to know the color of your eyes and your age..but I would say, lite brown earthy eye shadow may be your best bet and I would stick with brown mascara.  Have you tried an eyelash curler?

They really help and I cannot imagine it looking dirty on your face unless you smear it a lot or you have a redish tone in your skin?

I also think a dark blonde eyebrow pencil on your brows might help, define and frame your face, it might be the reason it looks dirty, your brows might disappear & you need that to frame your face.  I hope that helps a little.

  2. For mascara, I use Cover Girl multiplying (silver tube with blue cap).  I use black, but you could get brown for a more natural look. For eyeshadow, I usually use silver or light brown. For eyeliner, I rim my inner lids and sometimes my upper lid with Revlon colorstay eyeliner (btw it stays on all day and doesn't smudge unless you do so intentionally!) again, with the eyeliner I use black but it comes in brown as well. I'm blonde, have fair skin and blonde eyelashes and blonde eyebrows. I hate the blonde eyelashes, they make me feel albino which is why I go extreme with black mascara. It all works out well for me, I've been doing it for years. I have a blonde friend who hates black mascara, she chooses to wear clear which gives her blonde lashes just a slight tint. For eyebrows, I use a very very light brown pencil. I've used blonde and I hated the way it looked. just put a tiny line of brown in the middle of your brow and blend. It will look very natural this way and just add a tint of color so that you can actually see that you have eyebrows. Good luck!

  3. hey, go for a light brown i would say-the body shop do some nice ones and also bourjois!

  4. Well the opposite of blue is orange, so anything with an orange is going to compliment your eye color, bronzes, ambers, golds.  I use a brown mascara and brown liner.  I like MAC, NARS, Shu Uemura, you might need to try a brown that has a more rich reddish color than a blue base. Try and use a powder eyeshadow of your eyeliner with an angled brush.  check out Sephora they have a great article about eye color http://www.sephora.com/browse/article.jh...  You are young and dont need foundation.  I would suggest a tinted moisturizer>

  5. for your eyebrows:

try adding a little extra color(not too much) with a brow pencil in a dark blond or light brown color. don't shave your eyebrows off or anything just draw directly onto yoru eyebrow.

    for your lashes:

you need a good mascara that looks natural but still adds color. look for one with a curved brush, it adds volume and applies the most evenly. i like maybelline curl lash xxl. get it in brown so it doesn't wash your face out.

as for the eyeliner, i find it alot easier to use eyeshadow as eyeliner(you can do so much more with it and change colors as needed). so i would go out and find a dark brown mineral eyeshadow and an eyeliner brush. dip the brush in soem water and squeeze it out and tehn dip it into the eyeshadow and apply as desired. you might also want to try experimenting with different pencil liners and liquid liners.

    brands to try:

    urban decay

    rimmel

    sephora

    stilla(their smudge pot is great)

    micabella
