Question:

In Need of Social Skills?

It took me some time to realize that socializing is a skill that most people do not have. My social skills are just about zero.

I can talk to you for hours on the phone or sit and chat for hours with you on a park bench but when it comes to groups, I tend to shy away.

I live in New York City and so, you know how difficult it must be for me to get away from people here. They are everywhere in this big city!! I find it hard to socialize in every which way.

Can you relate to this lack of skill?

  1. Yes I can relate to this on a close level. If I am with I group I feel comfortable with I can talk and talk. As soon as I get put in a situation where I feel like I could be judged on what I am saying and I say it I very quickly shy away and give as little talk time as I can. I get red faced and nervous. The funny thing is i have a great sense of hummer and people laugh with me all the time and people come to talk to me allot. Yet you put me in mixed company my confidence is shot and I am shy and quite. I am always trying to over come this and it is hard. I know it is not the same as what you are saying but I hope it helps a bit.
