  1. "Foster Care Rates (only applicable to child welfare)

Under the child welfare funding framework announced in 1999, the Ministry established a new minimum daily rate ($25.71) for foster care providers. This revised daily rate structure included a higher base rate than the previously-established minimum. The basic minimum rate covers food and lodging for a child. It does not include extra costs of clothing, spending allowances and other specialized services that may be needed by children in foster care - which may be provided by the agencies at their discretion."

  2. If you have to ask, your going into foster care for all the wrong reasons.

The first poster doesnt quite have it right. $25 per day... is for an infant. A toddler is $18, a adolescent is $16 a teen is $14.

You receive a whopping $50 twice a year for clothing allowence.

Birthdays up to the age of 16 are $50. After that $0.

Allowences are given out according to age as well. An adolenscent is given $1.25 per week. A teen $4/ week

Altogether, your looking at $5260 to feed, clothe, & shelter a teen per year. Most teens I know eat more than that per year.

Notice nothing was mentioned about easter or Christmas & their costs? Your on your own if you'd like your foster child to celebrate those "extras".

These are the rates in the Kawartha Children's Aid Society located in Lindsay & Peterborough regions of Ontario.

  3. I don't know where the first answer got 25.71 per day, but I only get 220 per month, but I also don't live in Ontario...I live in the Midwest.
