In Options - Are all Complex Orders can be considered Strategies?

  1. First, I want to make sure we are using the same definitions. I am assuming by an order you mean a trade order. I am not sure where you would draw the line between a complex order and an order that is not complex.

    In my opinion no option order, no matter how complex or simple, is a strategy. However, since it is an opinion, someone else may have a different opinion so there is little doubt someone else can consider them strategies.

    To me an order is a tool to implement a strategy, not the the strategy itself.

Generally the term "strategy" just refers to literally any order you make, stocks or options, to make money.  If your strategy is buy long stock in large value companies then that is your strategy.  As far as options go though sometimes people do interchange "strategy" with complex orders.  But I guess if I had to define it a "complex order" could be your  "strategy" when your strategy is to make complex orders.  So yes.
