In Outlook, how can I get my received mail to automatically pop up instead of always hitting send/receive?

I would prefer having a noise made when I get an email instead of checking every 5 minutes with the send/receive button.

go to Tools > Options

on Preferences tab select Email Options

then click the Advanced Options button

there are options to play a sound, show envelope icon in tasktray, etc when new mail arrives.

also check your settings on how often outlook checks for new mail.  Tools > Options, Mail Setup tab. Click the Send/Receive options button and set the # of minutes outlook should check for new mail.
