In Pokemon TCG, when a benched pokemon has all its hit points removed, is it a discard, or is it a knock out?

While we were playing, my opponent managed to damage two of my pokemon (both of 50 hp) up to 40 each. So, if those pokemon received 50 or more hit points, would they just go into the discard pile? Or does that count as a knock out, and the opponent gets a prize card for each, since they are still in play but only benched?

It's counted as K.O. cuz it's in play so ur opponent get's a prize card
