In Poland during Communit times, how did you get Western Movies (Hollywood)?

  1. you didnt.. the only movies or shows that would air were about 10 years behind.

    so if for example Back to the Future came out in 1985 in USA Poland would get that movie in 1992 or something like that.

    during commy times we occupied ourselves with other things to do and tv was not top priority


  2. Top movies (e.g. Academy Award winners) could be seen at theaters almost right away. Particularly at so-called "film festivals", at which you bought a set of tickets for a dozen movies or so, and you had to go to the theater every day. The delay was not that big - usually only enough time to prepare the translation and print a sufficient number of copies. But I remember watching a British movie BEFORE its US premiere.

    Class-B (and further) movies were not that easy to find, but the TV often broadcast it (the Hammer horrors, for example).
