  1. Federal law says that you may have an 18" barrel but that the shotgun must be over 26" in length (used to be 27" but I heard it was now 26, better check with BATFE for a certain answer). I cut my barrels to 18 and 1/2" just to be sure I'm legal, and even with a pistol grip, they still measured over 26". Although I am not a fan of pistol gripped shotguns. They kick like a mule into your hand, and are not accurate for more than a point from the hip and shoot kind of thing. Better to go with a shoulder stock that also has a pistol grip. I had one in my patrol car that had a pistol grip and folding buttstock, but haven't seen those for a while.

    Shoot safe and stay legal.

  2. No problem just don't saw off the barrel to under 18 inches.

  3. boker_magnum, is correct.

  4. Make sure the overall length of the shotgun is no shorter than 26", make it 26 1/2" just to be on the safe side. It sounds like you're really trying to make a small shotgun, as long as your barrel length is no shorter than 18", and the shotguns total length is no shorter than 26", you're legal.
