In Quebec, what does the solid white line with doted white line mean (one direction traffic two lanes)?

I was in the right lane and had a solid white to my left but left of that solid line was a white dotted line for the cars in the next lane passing me.

  1. Not sure about Canada but in the UK a solid unbroken white line in your lane means no over taking. A dotted line means that you can overtake with caution.


  2. Drivers in the left lane, on the side with the dotted line, are permitted to change to the right lane.  Those in the right lane are not allowed to change lanes to the left.
