In Railway reservation, If the Reservation and boarding station are different, what is the policy ?

I am getting strange Issue. Usually, if I do not get reservation from my boarding point, i try to get the reservation from one of previous station, but In one case I am getting the issue. I am trying to book online tickets from Delhi to Bangalore and Boarding point is Gwalior. System (i.e. Availability enquiry) is showing that Seat are available at Delhi, even IRCTC system show these as available at the booking time too. But, whan I book, It goes into waitlist, and this waitlist is such that it seems I am booking from Gwalior. Has anyone faced this Issue ? I have done many such booking in the past, without any Issue. Is there any policy change ? If this is what happens, then what is the use of keeping Booking and Reservation point different ?Please share your thoughts.

don worry its a major problem iam being a travel agent iam also facing this problem many a times so don worry go to your nearest railway station and make a reservation and for the boarding point you have to select the boarding station at the top most where your travel details are shown

Well you can specify that you are boarding where ever you want while booking the ticket or you can take the ticket to the station and have it changed over the counter. But this should be done before preparation of the chart or else chances are that your ticket will be reissued to someone else.
