In Rugby, what happens when a player gets tackled?

if you're playing, and you're the one who got tackled, you present the ball to your team when your on the ground ( don't just throw it up in the air as your going down )

then someone from your team will pick up the ball and run with it, and you get up.

or when you present the ball, if the other team is right there, you will "ruck" over the ball, pushing the other team off of the ball.

That depends on what form of Rugby your playing.

If your playing Rugby League you will be tackled and you once you have areached a point where you are on the ground or being held and not moving forward, the referee will call 'held' in which the opposing players get off you and you play the ball under your legs and they pass it off. This happens for 5 tackles and then you must kick or when your held, its a turnover to the other team.

In Rugby Union you are tackled and you place the ball backwards while your team players drive over the ball and you to clean out the opposing players and the halfback will pick up the ball and pass it out. This will continue for as many rucks(the form of the tackle) until something happens as an example of you dropping the ball, or your players not quick enough to the ruck and the opposing teams players can go over you and get the ball.

when your tackled on the ground, your out of the game, get on your feet and track down that ball again

but yeah post it to your team, or get a good pop onto someone coming right up to keep the play going

or dont get tackled in the first place =)

You must release the ball but not willy nilly...you need to present the ball back to your team.....if you are the tackler...you need to get back on your feet and try to get the ball for your team....

In league you would play the ball back...you get five tackles before it's a turnover to the other team
