In SA, are children's transition documents compulsory for preschools to give to parents for schools?

In South Australia, Just want to know if it's compulsory for child care workers and kindy teachers to pass on that information.

  1. It isn't compulsory, but it is expected that you have such information to pass on if requested by parents. A lot of Kindies and more child care centres are now using the portfolio method of documenting the childrens learning, and passing this onto parents when they leave for school anyway. As an Early Childhood Teacher who has worked in Adelaide and Sydney for the last 13 years (and have worked in both Kindies and Child Care), I have endeavoured to always pass on a compilation of information including observations, photos, artwork, school readiness stencils etc to parents before they move onto school, or even to another service. In regards to Child Care it is part of High Quality for Accreditation and I also believe a common professional courtesy which parents appreciate, and the children love receiving!
