In Sims 2 Apartment Life, can you build apartments?

Create an empty residential lot.  Build your apartment building EXACTLY the way you want it, especially the "build mode" items as you will not be able to change these after you change the lot zoning.  You will be able to alter furnishings and decorations, but not in community areas, only in the private apartments themselves.

When you've finished, hit Ctrl + Shift + C to reach the cheat box.  Then type changeLotZoning apartmentbase  (you can see all cheat codes by typing help in the cheat box, which is how I discovered the code and that there are actually two apartment codes, but I'm not sure how the sublot function works because I haven't tested it yet)

Okay, it's now an apartment building, but you still have to force the game to replace your single mailbox with the group mailbox.  So, go back out to your neighborhood and then re-enter the lot BEFORE you move anyone into it!  As soon as you get back into the lot, your mailbox will be changed and everything will be set to move in your first family.  This is important, because if you do not force the game to reset the mailbox and try moving in a family you will only see the build mode whenever you try to enter the lot, and not the family.
