  1. The A band in muscle corresponds to the length of the myosin (thick filaments), and since the actin is pulled inwards, towards the midline during muscle contraction, that is the location of overlap.  (The H band, in the middle of the sarcomere, shows where actin is NOT overlapping with the myosin.
