  1. Keith Richards of Rolling Stones fame claims he smoked his Father's ashes. Some of the old sods in England keep them in a jar on the mantelpiece.

  2. well we scattered my grandmothers ashes into the sea, she wanted that because she wanted to go back to south africa and where her husband was buried....it makes me think of her soul is back in south africa.

  3. As far as I know no laws

Meeste van die kerke het nou 'n muur van herrindering en almal plaas die flesse daar in met 'n plaatjie of klip teel met die se name

  4. There is no law and your ashes can be scattered where you have asked for it to be scattered. Hmmm, my ashes should be in Parliament so that I can have an eye over proceedings.

  5. I dont thinks so Cakes we scattered my Brothers ashes in the St Lucia Lake.x*x

  6. In the Hindu culture , we usually scatter the ashes into the sea or a river , it has the significance of water being eternal (evaporation/condensation) and also cleansing and purifying.

Im not sure if there are any laws regarding cremation.

i read an article once where a lady took her husbands ashes and gave it to an artist to create a sort of mural or "painting" with it...

  7. If you claim the ashes, it's your decision  -  i don't know what happens if people don't ask for the ashes

  8. I think the norm is to choose a place that was special to the deceased or which is easily accessible to the close relatives or friends. That is if you want to revisit the place where the ashes are scattered.

Relatives whose baby died soon after childbirth  scattered the ashes amongst the "fynbos" and revisit the place each year and always leave fresh  flowers behind.

Do not think there is a law that prohibits you from scattering the ashes.
