  1. In spain it's the same regarding fast food vs. grocery as here in the US. It all depends on what you buy and want to eat. And no they definitely don't accept american money, partially because the Euro has a greater value right now than the american dollar. This would hold true for most of western europe, except for england and switzerland which you would find veeery expensive.

  2. before it was favorable because the US Dollar had a higher value than the Euro, at this time the Euro has more value so we for each US Dollar you get around 0.75 Euro, so although the prices are going to look the same in fact you are paying more cause of the exchange value. Also the majority of all Europe that has become part of the European Community does not accept US currency.

  3. American money, including US Dollars, are not accepted in Spain. They only accept Euros.

Fast food restaurants are comparatively expensive compared with 'mom & pop' restuarants at lunch time.

The 'menu del dia', lunch menu,  consists of three courses , with water or wine or beer and only costs  about 10 Euros.

Eating out in Spain is cheaper than most place in Europe. It is easily 30%  cheaper than in England.

Generally, supermarket food 'to go' is cheaper, and better than that from fast food outlets.

  4. they accept American currency at the bank!!

and supermarkets are always cheaper than fast food places.

  5. Supermarket is always cheaper in Europe.

You are in a different country, they prefer to use their own currency.

You can us US$ in stores, but they will charge you a huge exchange rate.

Take you ATM Card and the local ATMs will pay you out in the local currency. Or use your credit cards.

Do NOT try to use Amex Travellers Cheques. They are SO out of date. Nobody will accept them.

  6. Ah, Americans...we think everyone should accept our money, even though we won't accept their money.

You'll need to go to a bank there and change your american money into Euros.

As for the fast food places vs supermarkets...I don't know.  It's about the same as they are here, in the price difference anyway.  And I'm just basing this on my knowledge of Germany. I have NO clue about Spain.

  7. Gorgeous, just use your bank of America atm card to retrieve Euro from ATM manchine.  No, they dont take benjamins and you have to understand now many Europeans really dislike yanks.  So please dont be so arrogant and think everyone in world should take washingtons.  Having said that, I belive some eastern european countries do take and love green money, ie Ukraine.

Hope you enjoy your tapas and Paella, I am going to Spain soon as well.

  8. hi, well, it is always cheaper to go to supermarkets. the cheapest here is El Dia, can't beat that. but then, go to the small beer places and order a coke or a beer and some tapas, fills you up aswell
