  1. Jupiter

Download Stellarium, it's a completely free planetarium which will give you a brilliant view of the night sky. I use it all the time.

  2. Definitely Jupiter.

  3. It's Jupiter! It's the brightest I've ever seen, it looks quite yellow too. Venus is pure white.

Download the program from http://stellarium.org and you will have info on any object in the sky.

  4. it's a star u can't see any planets besides those in our own solar system. u can't even see them w/a telescope! just a little bloop of darkness every time a planet passes it's sun!hope it helped!

  5. Check this site out.

  6. I just had a look I think its a street light or the moon.

  7. It has to be Jupiter stars scintillate planets don`t. It could not be Venus as being in a closer orbit to the sun than earth it would never appear in the southern sky after sunset

  8. It depends on the time of night because the stars and planets rise and set just like the Sun. Jupiter is in the south East (not west) early in the evening, and is very bright. Try the sky mapping web site in the source to make a map of your local sky at the time you are looking. The various planets are represented by funny symbols. Jupiter symbol looks kind of like a number 4.

  9. If it was just about visible in the twilight to the west, just after sunset, then it was Venus. If is visible in a dark sky to the south or south east, then it's Jupiter. It's low in the south at about 10.20 p.m. and sets in the south west at about 2:20 a.m. tomorrow. It was at its closest to the Earth for 2008 about a month ago and is particularly bright at the moment.

  10. Bikenbee is correct, so I can't add to that, so its a planet

  11. It's Venus.

    Stars twinkle, planets don't.
