  1. Go to this website and enter where you are and where you want to go. It gives information on public transport around Sydney.

    www.131500.com.au

  2. I dont think there is a train station in balmain...the closes I could think of is West ryde...its very far at least 10-15mins drive..

My from experience working in Balmain 5 years ago its only buses that goes there...

  3. there are no train services from Balmain, however depending on where abouts you are, you may be able to travel on the Sydney Light rail system. The nearest stop to Balmain is Lilyfield on the corner of Catherine St and City West Link rd. You can take the 445 bus from Darling st (Nr Montague street at Post Office) to Lilyfield light rail stop on Catherine st. It is about 360 meters and ask the conductor for help. Then take the light rail to Central Station, it is at the bottom end of George Street. Depending on whereabouts on George St you need to be, you may have to take a train up to either Town Hall, Wynyard or Circular Quay stations. George Street runs the length of the City, starting at the Rocks and ending at Central Station. Or if this is too complicated just take a 433 bus from Balmain and you can get off at Central, Town Hall and Wynyard stations, as the bus travels along George st.
