In Teen Titans, Slade is the main villain. Why is this adult messing with kids?

Question

I'm curious about Slade and why he messes with kids all the time. Let's recap, shall we? Maybe you can help me define his motivations.

1. He wants to beat up kids. Namely, the Teen Titans.

2. He has a personal grudge against the only the kid without powers. Namely, Robin.

3. He acquired a 'fighting force' to take down the Teen Titans. Namely, The Hive. And what were they? Oh yeah, they were kids too.

4. He took a personal interest in an ex-Titan, Terra. And you know what? She's a kid too, and he makes her wear clothes he designed, and he can control her body and powers when he sees fit.

Now what does that tell you about Slade? He's obviously not good enough to join the Legion of Doom, for Lex Luthor and Bizarro probably think that if he can't even take down a bunch of kids, then he's of no use to them.

What are your thoughts on this questionable villain?

I find Slade to be a good villian. Remember Slade is 1 man against 5 superheroes. He probably does suck but I find him way more interesting to watch than Bizarro or Lex Luthor

Well, in the comics, he actually has quite an ugly history with the Titans. I believe one of his kids was a rival to the Titans, and ended up being killed, another was a Titan, and ended up being killed.

The cartoon didn't really ewplain his motives all that well, however there is a movie coming out, I think next year some time, which I hope will explain things a little better.

Slade is just a bored guy who is still a virgin and live in his mother basement. lol

He had no life in the series. He tried to get robin on his side which made him g*y.

Then he went for Terra who then made him a g*y pedophile. lol

He was the stupid powerful villain who I couldn't stand, just like the british one. ew.

the teen titans are already teens.

and 1 adult vs. 5 teens sure would be hard. If the only talent you have is mastered martial arts while your opponents have super strength, power of darkness etc. wouldn't you get your butt kicked?

In the Cartoon that was on TV they mest up big time.

In the comics Slade AKA Deathstroke the Terminator.

Slade has a long history as an enemy of the Teen Titans, beginning when his other son, Grant, became an early Titans foe called the Ravager who was physically enhanced to fulfill a contract to kill or capture the Teen Titans. However, those enhancements proved fatal and Slade agreed to complete the contract. As a result, he attacked the Titans continually and finally succeeded in capturing them by introducing Terra into the team as a spy. At the end of this plot, Slade was defeated and captured with the help of Joseph, who joined the team as Jericho. Despite their enmity, he has grudgingly worked alongside the Titans on occasion, usually to battle a greater evil. He also teamed up with the Justice League to foil an invasion of Earth by Warworld.
