We have a pre-booked taxi transfer from the airport to the hotel (through our travel agent). Do we need to take a car seat for our 2 1/2 year old...or will the taxi have one? Do we legally need one?

  1. I don't think they really care too much over there.

Sit him in the back and buckle up. You could always prop him up with a bit of hand luggage etc so the strap doesn't cut into his neck.

  2. They don't worry about the same things that we do.

  3. In Tenerife you could probably strap the kid to the roof of the taxi with bungee cords and nobody would notice or say anything

  4. Not sure of the laws over there, Although it is law to wear a belt in the UK that does not apply to taxi's

But if you dont need one and you choose to sit your child on your lap, whatever you do DONT strap Yourself & child in the same belt, if there was ever a accident your child would be crushed,

Strap the child in and you sit next to them, but at the end of the day i would say they have 3 belts the same as our cars.

    Have a great holiday.

  5. I've been a regular visitor to Tenerife for 14 years and I'm very familiar with the 15 minute taxi transfer from the south airport to play de las americas.

In all that time I don't think I can ever recall there being a child seat fitted in any taxi, either at the airport or elsewhere for that matter. The boot is always kept well clear for suit cases and bags so it's not as if they were in there.

Knowing what Tenerife is like I doubt there are any legal issues for you to worry about from the point of view as a passenger.

You might think manthebraces is being flippant but as far as the general gist of it goes, it's not so far off the mark.
