Do you think Brick was a homosexual and that's why he couldn't stand himself? He was always avoiding Maggie and he fell apart when Skipper died. What do you people think?

  1. No.  The issue is that Brick and Skipper had a good man-man relationship, they were both hetero.  Maggie, however, couldn't keep herself from suspecting they were homo; she seduced Skipper, who couldn't perform (because dammit, this was his best friend's wife!) and then he killed himself because he thought he might have been g*y.  Brick gets the truth and can't stand to touch Maggie because, well, she was such a cat...

  2. Yes, Brick was homosexual. At that period in time however, his relationship with Skipper was totally unacceptable socially. The movie with Liz Taylor kinda alludes to the fact that he was g*y. But it in the book, its totally obvious. Tennessee W had to tone the story down so that it could be made into a film. If the film was just like the book, there would have been way too much controversy over it (even though the film was still controversial in the end)

go and read the book. books are almost always better than the films!
