  1. The length of time you are in the military...they do check..You wouldn't be much help if you're all cracked out half the time..

  2. I do not know about all branches of the service, but in the Navy and submarines, where I was for 20 years, while in port, they do random sampling every week. Odds are 1 in 10 of having to provide a witnessed urine sample every week. One morning during the week, at quarters in the morning, they call out a number, 0 through 9, and if the last digit of your service number is that number, you have to the end of the working day to provide a sample, witnessed that it really DID come from you. Yes, that means someone WATCHES you. Any positive result, means at the least, further testing, immediately. Results are known within 48 hours in most cases. The 2nd round of tests is done by blood and is much more comprehensive. Positive verified results in the 2nd round of testing means you are kicked out of submarines forever, transfer to a shore facility and rehab, and maybe worse depending on the specific drugs involved and the circumstances. Since I left the Navy, the testing has done nothing but get better and better, detecting lower and lower levels, detecting more types of drugs, with a faster turnaround time. I have heard, though not verified, that in subs at least, they can even tell if you are in the midst of a hangover and if you turn up several times hung over, you get to go through a mandatory alcohol education program, and if it still continues, can result in further counseling and rehab. I have only HEARD this about alcohol abuse and I do NOT know if what I heard is true. I would not want a doper running the nuclear power plant on MY submarine, would YOU? They call it DOPE for a reason. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.

  3. the length of your enlistment

  4. The entire length of your contract...

  5. Your entire time in the service?

It's your fault if you don't make, you got yourself caught up in that s***

  6. your whole life.

  7. you have to pass a drug test at MEPS, and then there after you will be ramdom tested throught out your whole career. It is not worth doing any drugs, and could get you cought up in jail or even discharged dishonorable. If you are not willing to leave the drugs alone, then please save yourself and do not join the military.

  8. Most of you are reading this wrong....The question is "how long must you HAVE been drug free" Answer is ..Until you can pass the urine test..Then forever!!!

  9. Takes 30 days to pass the pee test for pot.....2 days for crack. As long as you pee clean your good to go...by why would you want to ???

  10. All the time Bro!

  11. That's an extremely stupid question... What do you think?

The entire time of your contract

  12. depends on what drug you use, they all stay in your system different lengths of time.  once you get in you need to stay 100 percent drug free for the time of your contract.  luckily its a volunteer army in the USA and if you think you can't do that, don't sign the dotted line.

  13. your question is kind of open. if you mean when you first join the military ya knwo before you sign all of the paper work go for you first drug test kind of like you do with n e new job.  also iti depends on what type  of test the give you for example. hair test with a hair test if you never got your hair cut from the moment you were first born on  the first thing you ate /. drank is in your hair. but say you shave you head a month ago then everything you took into your body with the last month would be in you hair. your hair is your dead cells pushing out its taken in everthing you are.  a saliva test . well some ppl say you actually have to be doing the drug for it to be detected. urine and blood  along with saliva depend on the drug and how much you use it.  for example acid even used just once is always in you system  its stoerd in your spine that why ppl have whats called flash backs from trips on acid. alos things like pot tend to stay in you for a bout a month if you a heavy smoker or it can stay in you for as little as 24 hours if you take one or two hits. and drink lots of water.  how ever if you mean  can you use drugs in the military. no . do ppl do it yes they do. and like everywhere else when they get caught is the problem. the military has strickt codes and guide lines. and once youve become dishonerable discharged its like saying you went to prison for a very bad crime. and the military has their own kind of prison.  and what ever you do dont fill out your paper work when your high.  it could loose you that position you want.
