  1. It is legal to serve under-hand in U-13, but your coach would expect you to serve over-hand and your try out would require you to serve over-hand.

It is all about potential, and to show that some 7th grade boys already started jump-serve.

  2. It depends on what league you are in, where you live, the rules/regulations, and whatever your coach wants.

I am on a 13s team, and in the league we can serve underhand, but our coach won't allow us to.

You should learn overhand, it is a stronger way of serving, and more accurate too, you just need to get the hang of it, it took me like a year or two to get it !

But sooner or later you will have to learn to overhand, so you might as well start now :]

    hope this helps

  3. U13 you can underhand serve. But, if you wanted to try-out for a team or High School, (High School makes you do overhand) they would pick you if you are good and especially do overhand. If your not so good practice atleast 5 min each day. It helps! That is how i learned.

  4. welll i am in 9th grade and we can do either overhand or underhand. i usually do both just because i cant get it over sometimes. if you have trouble getting the ball over using overhand try underhand it works a lot easier! omg i love volleyball. its my lifeeeeeeee.

  5. Heres a little rule of thumb.

If you can serve underhand to a specific spot on the floor 90%(of all serves, making it over or not) of the time.

But can only serve overhand to the specific spot 70%("") of the time. You should be serving it underhand in games. You should be practicing overhand in practices, but not in games if you arent effective.

I didnt learn how to serve overhand until 8th grade, and didn't use it in games until 9th, but i have always been one of the best and most consistent servers on the team. Now, in club and school (11th grade) even when I get subbed out for in the back row(im 5'11), I ALWAYS serve. So, dont force it, serve overhand when you are ready.

  6. most u-13 teams overhand serve, but there are some that allow underhand.

  7. it depends if you have played vollyball and know alot about it then you should try serving over hand, but if you have never played before then definetly underhand.

  8. You can do both but you get 2 tries on your overhand.  only one try if you do underhand and it doesnt go over

  9. under hand

  10. everyone should be serving overhand

  11. I'd probably say overhand...I bet it wouldn't be consistent yet, but you should be starting and getting used to overhand.

  12. overhand and jump-serve whatever kind of mood i'm in.

  13. it depands on wat ur coach wants u 2 play. but at that age under-arm is fine. u shud start practicing to over arm an get usd 2 it coz in the future u will be forced to serve over-hand.

  14. There is no set rule that says at that age you need to serve under- or over-hand, and to tell you the truth it depends on the coach and the competitiveness of your team, but if you want to really stand out and be the best server possible I would say you should learn over-hand. It, in most cases, is the more affective choice and will gain brownie points with the coach! =) lol but no, it isn't a "requirement" to know over-hand at that age...it's just a very storng...er...suggestion? lol

  15. You should really be serving overhand, so they can get better at that because in the years to come they will need to serve overhand.  Only if they cant get it over the net on a consistent basis should you serve underhand.

  16. I'm 15 and our team went to the final champs 2 years in a row.. its all in the serve/ overhand! it has alot more power and when u get it down easy to place. do push-ups and the only worry u will have is getting it in the court :) good luck!

  17. Probably under hand but overhand will get you ready for the next year

  18. OVER HAND!!!!!!! now give me 10 points PLEASE!!!!!

  19. learn over hand that will get you to start and will help you in the future

Please Please learn overhand it will be better for you

  20. It depends where you live and the rules and regulations of the team and/or league and/or association of which you play. If there is a choice, overhand provides more power and speed, while underhand provides more control.

  21. im in 7th grade i always OVERHAND!! =~}
