Question:

In Uruguay, is US dollars or the euro or the local money valued the most? Or is a pair of Levis jeans?

I am sending a package to a friend of mine in Uruguay. I have heard that the postal workers sometimes open packages and take what they want. So it is better to send one shoe at a time and not a pair in one box. I am going to put some money in the box with a note attached saying "take money but please leave items"(in spanish). But I want to know if US dollars, Euros or the local money would be best. Or should I put in a pair of Levis jeans instead?

  1. I agree with Davis........

I have gotten packages without open......but know that another pple  didnt get them at all.

So..instead to put money inside..(U$S are the best) send the package by any of the private couriers.(FedEx, DHL...etc)

I know that is more expensive........but it is safer.

Dont put money inside the cage.....bcoz if the post employee is not honest....will take the money and the things inside the cage.

    Good luck

  2. This seems logical I'm sure but probably won't work.  If a package is opened everything of value is taken and the rest is thrown away.

Better to spend more money and send it via courier (DHL, Fedex, UPS, etc.).

But, US dollars will work as getting local currency might be difficult where you are.

  3. I think you should send local money (peso uruguayo) so that the person that takes it doesn't have to change it, he/she just grabs it and spends it
