I have lived in Victoria, BC for 3 years and I KNOW there are good coffee places around, I just don't know the names of them. Can anyone help me with that? I would like to know of GOOD coffee shops that does NOT inlcude Tim Hortons or Starbucks (I know where those are - and I've been there). :) Also, I would like to know where they are.

So in short WHERE is a good coffee shop, and what is the NAME of it.

Please help me!

  1. what one do ya want to meet at

qv's starbucks bean around the world?

  2. I know what you mean about Starbucks. The manager of the James Bay coffee shop told me that, in the coffee-buying world, Starbucks is well known for buying grade B coffee and then over-roasting it so their clientele won't know the difference.

Anyway, in Victoria I think the best coffee is at Cafe Fantastico, one on Kings at Quadra, and one in Cook Street Village in that little McKenzie St. food court. The ambiance is just okay in both places, but I assume you're interested mostly in the coffee.

Downtown, Mirage has two spots (Blanshard & View, Government & Courtenay) with really good fresh coffee. Apparently Cairo Coffee in the 700 block of Fort has good brew too, but I haven't yet tried it.

Uptown, the best spot is Discovery Coffee at Douglas and Discovery.

  3. Cafe Fantastico on the corner of King and Quadra. They roast their own coffee and have a friendly staff... they recycle almost everything... so its a socially responsible choice.

  4. Graba Java - is it still there - used to be the best

  5. beans
