When a model is using the true grit ability and has a Close Combat Weapon and a Bolter, can the model rapid fire the bolter in the shooting phase and then charge in the assault phase? normally you aren't allowed to rapid fire then charge but with true grit it says that you count the bolter as a bolt pistol in close combat. does that mean that you can fire the bolter in the shooting phase and then count the bolter as a bolt pistol and charge?

  1. An infantry model with a Rapid Fire weapon can never charge in the Assault phase.  The only exception is bolters mounted on bikes (which aren't infantry so aren't really an exception, but I thought I'd mention it for completeness).

However, even if you *could*, "True Grit" only applies when the unit is charged, not when they charge (as they can either get +1 attack from charging or +1 attack from the extra close combat weapon but not both under the True Grit rules).

That said, someone with True Grit *could* Rapid Fire the weapon in their own Shooting Phase and then, if they were charged in their opponent's next turn, use the weapon again as a close combat weapon, gaining +1 attack.

    I hope that's clear.
